Bimini

“Ernest Hemingway’s Islands” lie between the island of Andros and the southern coast of Florida, just 80 miles east of Miami. Bimini group has only 26 square km area, and its islands are absolutely flat, because of what they are often compared to flounder. North-Bimini, often called simply Bimini is 11 km in length and not more than 366 m in width. Souther, separated by the strait of width 137 m, lies South Bimini – a small and actually uninhabited piece of land. Islands are famous for their sea fishing – here you can catch wahoo, tuna, sailfish, mako shark, barracuda, and the main local attractions, blue marlin and garfish. Also in these waters of grace graze flocks of dolphins, very friendly disposed to people.

The capital of this tiny island group is Alice Town, and it is also considered one of the most famous cities in the Bahamas. Praised by Hemingway, the city still continues to be the fishing capital of the Bahamas, whose many hotels and marina provide thousands of fishermen and tourists communion with the Great Ocean. Alice Town has many famous fishing clubs and spas. The most famous of them – Complete Angler Hotel, where Hemingway wrote his famous novel, “Have and Have Not”. Now here is the collection of memorabilia of the writer, including rare photographs of the author. No less famous Bimini Big Game Fishing Club, Bimini Bay Guest House and Bimini Blue Waterski Resort (here in the cottage, “Anchorage” Hemingway also worked). Worth seeing the famous “Bimini road” and “Bimini Wall”, which, as stated in local legend, are the remnants of Atlantis.
