Weather

As an island in the tropics, the Dominican Republic enjoys wonderful weather the entire year round. It is this pleasurable climate that has helped make the island such a hot vacation destination. The average temperature around the Dominican Republic is an easy 77 degrees F. While warm for the entire year, the Dominican Republic does experience seasons that tourists may want to pay attention to. August is the hottest month of the year, which may be a consideration when planning a trip. The months of January and February are the coldest months in the calendar, but they are still quite warm.

The temperatures near the beaches are naturally the warmest, and the reason that most vacationers congregate in that area. The Dominican Republic has significant elevation towards the inner part of the island, and the mountains experience temperatures below 50 degrees F, and sometimes even snowfall. To best avoid rainy seasons, first plan which coast you want to take your vacation on. The rainy season of the Northern coast lasts from November-January. On the Southern Coast the rainy season lasts from May-November.
